Fallout 5 Has Reportedly Been “Fully Greenlit”

With Starfield’s release now behind them, Bethesda enthusiasts are setting their sights on The Elder Scrolls VI as the studio’s next major venture. Following that, anticipation is building for Fallout 5 to become the focal point of the developer’s roadmap.

This trajectory aligns with statements from Bethesda and Todd Howard, whose tenure may culminate with Fallout 5’s launch, given the extended timelines of contemporary game development. During a recent XB2 podcast episode, journalist Jez Corden noted that the project has reportedly received its “official approval” to proceed, marking a critical milestone.

However, questions linger regarding leadership. Corden suggested that while a majority of Bethesda’s workforce is occupied with Starfield expansions, the remainder is dedicated to The Elder Scrolls VI. Although Fallout 5 has been formally added to the studio’s agenda, specifics about its core development team and production timeline remain uncertain.

While Howard’s team is the presumed lead, the evolving dynamics between Bethesda and Microsoft could influence the project’s trajectory. Despite speculation that Fallout 5’s development might accelerate due to the TV series’ success, industry insiders suggest players will need to wait several more years before exploring its post-apocalyptic world.
