YouTube and Nintendo Partner to Launch Switch 2 App

The new Nintendo console is compatible with current applications and titles, though early adopters might face unexpected errors. Those attempting to launch YouTube may encounter system alerts stating the application cannot initialize properly.

Nintendo has identified this during compatibility assessments, confirming the YouTube malfunction is under active review. Recent reports indicate a user directly messaged YouTube’s support channels, prompting this official reply:

YouTube: “We’re working with Nintendo to make YouTube available on the Switch 2 soon. For a list of devices YouTube is available on, head over here: https://goo.gle/3HuvcWI

The streaming service urges players to monitor future announcements, leaving the app temporarily inaccessible. Multiple media platforms – including Niconico, ABEMA, and Crunchyroll – reportedly face similar incompatibility issues according to recent data.

Initially released for Switch in 2018 as a free download, YouTube previously functioned on legacy Nintendo devices like the Wii U and 3DS.
