Dreamhaven’s competitive multiplayer title Wildgate, a tactical fusion of interstellar ship combat and infantry battles, has officially launched across PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC platforms. Developed by industry veterans including former Blizzard staff, the game expands on its beta phase with substantial updates.
A freshly released cinematic trailer highlights the title’s unique combination of large-scale vehicular warfare and close-quarters firefights, emphasizing its otherworldly aesthetic and dynamic environments.
Accompanying the release, the studio published a detailed update post outlining revisions based on community feedback. Key additions include an Infamy progression system, combat streak rewards, and milestone challenges. A new competitive mode joins the roster alongside spacecraft rebalancing affecting durability, collision mechanics, and weapon systems.
Combat adjustments feature reworked respawn timers (16 seconds for field deaths, 12 seconds for shipboard fatalities), loot distribution tweaks, and firearm recoil modifications. Interface improvements address matchmaking clarity and squad communication tools, supplemented by numerous technical optimizations.
“Player engagement during testing surpassed our projections,” stated Dreamhaven CEO Mike Morhaime in the official announcement. “Wildgate embodies our vision of creating immersive, strategically rich experiences. We’re excited to see how crews navigate this evolving cosmos.”
Early impressions from media outlets highlighted the title’s potential. In a March preview, Wccftech’s Alessio Palumbo observed: “The foundation is strong for squad-based play, though expanded PvE elements could further diversify the experience. Current mechanics already offer compelling reasons for collaborative combat.”
With its full release, the title now faces the challenge of sustaining player interest while delivering on its hybrid combat premise.
