Ubisoft Announces Release Dates for Anno 117: Pax Romana and The Rogue Prince of Persia, Unveils Morbid Metal at SGF 2025

While Ubisoft skipped a conventional Summer Game Fest presence, opting instead for its standalone Forward showcase later, the publisher still unveiled key updates during SGF 2025. These included new launch dates and an unexpected project reveal.

First, Anno 117: Pax Romana finally locked in its launch date: November 13, 2025, for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S. A fresh trailer highlighted both gameplay mechanics and cinematic environments. For a comprehensive look, Ubisoft directed fans to an earlier showcase focused on mechanics.

Evil Empire’s The Rogue Prince of Persia, a 2D roguelite spin-off previously in early access, received a vague but narrowed release target for its full launch: August 2025. Initial impressions praised its fusion of agility-driven platforming and roguelite progression. Wccftech’s review noted, “Blending time-bending traversal with punishing combat, the title channels both classic Prince of Persia and modern roguelites, even in its unfinished state.”

Ubisoft’s surprise announcement came via Morbid Metal, a dystopian hack-and-slash roguelite from Screen Juice. Featuring semi-randomized levels and three distinct protagonists at launch, the title enters Steam Early Access on August 20, 2025. A playable demo is currently available, offering a taste of its chaotic combat systems.

Notably absent were updates on high-profile franchises like Assassin’s Creed, Splinter Cell, or the beleaguered Prince of Persia: Sands of Time Remake. Even Rainbow Six Siege X, launching imminently, saw no promotional boost. With no Ubisoft Forward planned for 2025, major reveals may now hinge on external events like Gamescom or The Game Awards. The publisher’s restructuring efforts and recent lackluster releases leave fans questioning its roadmap, following a year widely regarded as underwhelming.
