An upcoming update for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt will enable mod support for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S players, expanding customization options across platforms. This enhancement was revealed during CD Projekt Red’s anniversary event marking a decade since the game’s initial launch.
As part of these celebrations, the studio announced that PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S editions will gain cross-platform mod compatibility through a unified system. The integration aims to simplify mod creation and distribution, allowing users to share content seamlessly. An official FAQ clarifies that players must link their mod.io accounts to CD Projekt Red profiles to access this feature. While PC modders can still utilize platforms like Nexus Mods and Steam Workshop, console gamers will rely solely on mod.io for content.
Not all existing PC mods will automatically become available on consoles. Those aligning with CD Projekt Red’s Fan Content Guidelines and User Agreement may be approved for PlayStation and Xbox platforms, even if developed without official REDkit tools. This update follows the game’s recent visual and performance upgrades, further enhancing its longevity.
The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is accessible on PC, PlayStation, Xbox, and Nintendo Switch. Cross-platform modding functionality is scheduled for release before year-end on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S, offering a refreshed experience for veteran and new players alike.
