ZeniMax Online has launched the Battle for the Writhing Wall in The Elder Scrolls Online, now live simultaneously across all platforms—a departure from the standard PC/Mac-first rollout. This event forms the crux of the Seasons of the Worm Cult, ending players’ confinement to Western Solstice behind a soul-forged barrier conjured by the nefarious cult. Across three dynamic stages, the global player base will collaborate to dismantle this arcane obstruction.
The opening phase centers on resource accumulation and fortification, as the Stirk Fellowship (a coalition of Alliances and guilds) prepares for the impending conflict. Skirmishes erupt around siege camps, while dimensional breaches destabilize regions throughout Tamriel. While all participants can aid the campaign, Solstice quests remain exclusive to 2025 Content Pass holders. Infiltration sites commandeered by the cult in delves and public dungeons will host amplified threats, serving as focal points for daily missions from Orinde Glenuvon.
Phase 2 escalates the campaign with intensified siege camp defense and the commencement of direct assaults on the barrier. Anticipate relentless counteroffensives as forces rally for the final push. Siege incursions grow fiercer and more frequent, culminating in the emergence of Ghishzor, a malevolent Maldrithian entity now roaming Solstice as a world boss. Again, Solstice quest access requires the 2025 pass.
The climactic phase sees the Writhing Wall vulnerable, enabling coordinated strikes to breach the Writhing Fortress instance. Unlike previous community-driven timelines, this weeklong finale activates upon the first server completion of the fortress. Exclusive to Content Pass owners, this stage concludes the event after seven days per server.
Mirroring World of Warcraft’s Ahn’Qiraj mobilization, server progression varies by player engagement. European console servers currently lead the charge. Track regional advances via ESO’s official tracker.
ZeniMax recently addressed organizational shifts—including staff reductions, Project Blackbird’s termination, and new Game Director Nick Giacomini—while reaffirming their 30-year vision for ESO during an interview with Wccftech.
