Nintendo announced today that both Super Mario Galaxy titles will arrive on Nintendo Switch devices in October 2025. The remastered bundle, featuring the pair of acclaimed Wii-era platformers, will debut globally on October 2, 2025, with optimization for the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2 hardware. While the physical edition combines both games, players can also purchase them individually via the eShop.
Though visual upgrades appear minimal in the announcement trailer—consistent with the Super Mario 3D All-Stars version already on Switch—the package introduces fresh narrative expansions for Rosalina’s galactic tale through unlockable story pages. A standalone print version of the storybook is planned for later release, though it won’t incorporate the new content created specifically for this collection.
This revival arrives alongside news of a Super Mario Galaxy-themed film adaptation, making the timing apt for reintroducing these cosmic adventures. Fans of the series will particularly appreciate the second game’s inclusion, as it’s been trapped on the Wii platform for over a decade without a modern port.
Super Mario Galaxy + 2 launches globally for Nintendo Switch and Switch 2 on October 2, 2025.
