Stellar Blade’s PC release has arrived slightly over a year following its initial PlayStation 5 launch, now published by Sony Interactive Entertainment. This cross-platform debut sparks comparisons between its Steam performance and other Sony titles ported to PC.
Data from SteamDB reveals the action title achieved a remarkable 183.8K concurrent player peak within its first day, surpassing prior records for Sony-published single-player experiences on the platform. Weekend gameplay surges could push these numbers even higher as users gain more leisure time.
Earlier benchmarks include Ghost of Tsushima: Director’s Cut (77.1K peak), though its multiplayer-enhanced edition complicates direct comparisons. Excluding titles with online components, the former record holder was God of War (73.5K). Additional Sony ports show varied results: Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered (66.4K), Horizon Zero Dawn Complete Edition (56.5K), and Horizon Forbidden West Complete Edition (40.4K). Recent sequels generally underperformed predecessors – The Last of Us Part I (36.4K) edged out God of War Ragnarok (35.6K), while Days Gone (27.4K) trailed behind numerous entries.
While critical reception for Stellar Blade has justified development of a sequel, its Steam dominance over higher-rated Sony titles suggests shifting platform dynamics. The upcoming release of Lost Soul Aside (August 29) marks Sony’s first simultaneous PC-console launch for a narrative-driven game. This parity release strategy could further influence player engagement patterns if reviews meet expectations.
