Star Wars Battlefront 2 is thriving, as its multiplayer mode has reached a record-breaking concurrent player count of 18,635 on Steam within the past day, doubling its previous high of nearly 10,000.
While PlayStation player counts are harder to measure, the game has climbed to the 32nd position in the top 100 most played PS5 and PS4 titles over the last month, up from outside the top 100.
Original Story: The return of Star Wars fans to Battlefront 2 coincides with May the 4th celebrations, the new Fortnite season, and the second season of Andor. The 2017 multiplayer title is seeing a surge in popularity across PC, PlayStation, and Xbox.
SteamDB shows a steady increase in players since May 4th, with the PC version peaking near 10,000 concurrent players, close to its all-time high from four years ago.
On Xbox, the game ranked 22nd in recent playtime charts, up from outside the top 50, while on PlayStation, it re-entered the top 40 charts last week.
Despite initial criticism over microtransactions, the game has gained acclaim for its intense multiplayer battles in the Star Wars universe.
The PS4 Celebration Edition is available on the PS Store for £8.74 / $9.99 until June 4th, and it’s also part of EA Play.
