Capcom’s last original Resident Evil title debuted four years ago. While speculation about RE9 circulates, the company has yet to confirm anything. Industry whispers suggest formal news might emerge imminently.
Potential RE9 Unveiling at Summer Event
Known franchise insider Dusk Golem expresses strong confidence (though falls short of absolute certainty) about Resident Evil 9’s reveal during Summer Game Fest 2025. The leaker admits he lacks direct confirmation but hints at substantial behind-the-scenes activity.
This is the first time behind the scenes there’s a lot of buzz in the grapevine, lots of rumblings.
Increased social media activity from Resident Evil channels reportedly caught the insider’s attention. He also references trusted analyst Andi from Screenfire Germany, who allegedly projects a Q1 2026 launch window for RE9 – aligning with potential imminent marketing (via ComicBook).
I’d say if you’re tuning into Summer Game Fest on June 6th hoping that Resident Evil 9 will show up, there’s an incredibly high chance you won’t be disappointed. I’m getting into hype mode for it myself.
In an additional post, Dusk Golem clarifies that RE5 Remake remains absent from current production schedules, though future development appears probable. Meanwhile, Code: Veronica’s remake is reportedly progressing, with an estimated 2028 release following a refreshed Resident Evil 0 in 2027 per claims.
It’s not that the RE5 remake will never be made. At this moment it is not in the plans. In a way, I think that RE5 is now a bit like Code: Veronica used to be – it’s more about “when”, not “if.” For example, the remake of Code: Veronica wasn’t in production in 2020, but it entered the development phase at the end of 2022.
These reports remain unverified. Their validity will be tested during the Summer Game Fest keynote on June 6 at 2:00 PM Pacific Time.
