The release of Pokémon Legends: Z-A on Switch and Switch 2 on October 16, 2025, came as a surprise to many fans.

The announcement was made on Twitter, where the studio confirmed enhanced features for the Switch 2 version, including better graphics and frame rates. Those with the original Switch version can upgrade to the Switch 2 edition later.

Pokémon also announced a Pokémon Presents showcase on July 22, 2025, though details are yet to be revealed. The event is expected to highlight Pokémon Legends: Z-A.
