PocketPair recently shared via a developer video that their monster-taming title, Palworld, is targeting a full 1.0 launch in 2026. To meet this deadline, the studio will dedicate resources to refining core systems, resulting in fewer major updates for the early access build throughout 2025. Communications lead ‘Bucky’ elaborated:
We’re at a pivotal stage: balancing new features with preparations for 1.0. While our vision for Palworld’s future remains ambitious, stabilizing the existing experience is crucial. The early access phase exposed technical imperfections we need to resolve before exiting beta. By focusing on polish over expansions this year, we aim to deliver a smoother final product. This approach means our holiday update will be smaller in scope compared to previous drops like Feybreak. Transparency is key—while active development continues, our 2025 updates will prioritize foundational improvements. Rest assured, 1.0 will introduce substantial new content, but rushing it would compromise quality. We’re building a stronger base to support long-term growth.
Bucky added that PocketPair is expanding its initiatives, including a publishing arm to assist indie studios and early R&D for future games. Despite this, Palworld remains the studio’s primary focus following its explosive 2024 debut. The title became Steam’s third most-played game ever, peaking at 2.1 million concurrent users and surpassing 32 million total players cross-platform. However, ongoing legal challenges with Nintendo over alleged IP infringement have necessitated minor gameplay adjustments, though the studio continues to contest the claims.
