Online Mod Enables Cooperative Play in Rockstar’s Classic Bully

A group of developers is crafting Bully Online, a PC mod for Bully: Scholarship Edition designed to enable cooperative exploration of Bullworth Academy and its surroundings. While earlier console releases included limited two-player competitive minigames, this overhaul expands multiplayer capabilities significantly.

Mod lead SWEGTA highlights features such as open-world co-op, revamped economy mechanics, and RPG elements. The team implemented an item management framework, letting users accumulate currency via quests, mini-activities, or trading. Funds can buy properties, gear, and vehicles—each car comes with exclusive keys to prevent theft.

New activities include Rat Wars, a whimsical squad-based shooter featuring armed rodents, alongside customizable races. These modes operate in isolated instances to minimize disruption. Technical groundwork relies on the DSL script loader, enabling server integration and bespoke gameplay programming.

Exclusive server access launches in December for Ko-Fi backers, offering perks like:

  • Exclusive dev logs with insider insights
  • Personalized nameplate hues (supporter blue, admin red)
  • Digital in-game camera for capturing/shareable snapshots
  • Server queue priority during peak times
  • Private Discord channels for direct team communication

Post-testing, a public release is planned. However, Rockstar’s history of targeting mods—like the shuttered Liberty City Preservation Project—raises concerns. Meanwhile, rumors persist about a scrapped Bully sequel, attributed by Dan Houser to resource constraints during development.
