Nintendo Switch Update 20.1.0 Now Live with Full Patch Notes

The Nintendo Switch 2 is set to launch next week, and Nintendo has released a new firmware update for the original model.

This update brings the system to Version 20.1.0, featuring visual and sound enhancements, as well as improved stability. Users planning to transfer their Switch to the new model must ensure their current Switch is updated to this latest firmware version.

Nintendo has outlined the changes in the Version 20.1.0 update, including:

Ver. 20.1.0 (Released May 27, 2025)

Visual updates to Parental Control settings have been implemented.

The sound played when launching Nintendo Switch Online from the HOME Menu has been modified.

General system stability improvements have been added to enhance user experience.

If transferring data from Nintendo Switch to Nintendo Switch 2 via local communication, the original Switch must be updated to this version. For more details, visit System Transfer from Nintendo Switch to Nintendo Switch 2.

This update follows Version 20.0.1, which addressed an error code issue that emerged after the Version 20.0.0 update in April. That update introduced Virtual Game Cards, GameShare features, and other improvements.
