Nintendo Switch 2 Partners with Summer Game Fest 2025

Geoff Keighley has announced the initial partners for next week’s Summer Game Fest, scheduled to begin on Friday, June 6th.

Major publishers and developers, including Bandai Namco, Capcom, CD Projekt Red, and Sony, are among the collaborators. However, one logo stands out: the Nintendo Switch 2.

The presence of Nintendo’s new console has sparked interest, as Nintendo has historically avoided Summer Game Fest since its launch. There are rumors about a Nintendo Direct event around the Switch 2’s release date, coinciding with the day before Summer Game Fest.

However, we’re skeptical about its significance.

Summer Game Fest Partners Round 1

Notably, the logo represents the Nintendo Switch 2, not Nintendo directly. Nintendo has used the Switch 2 logo in other events like BitSummit, where it was a sponsor. Given the console’s release the day before Summer Game Fest, it would be unusual for Nintendo to reveal new content immediately after launch.

While Nintendo has surprised us before, we expect only a launch trailer or a showcase of upcoming games during Opening Night Live. There might be some Switch 2 units at the press event or games from developers supporting the console, but nothing groundbreaking from Nintendo itself.

Additionally, being listed as a partner doesn’t guarantee a significant reveal. Jeff Gerstmann, co-owner of Giant Bomb, offers a realistic view: Nintendo’s presence might mean a brief announcement about the Switch 2’s release.

In summary, Nintendo’s presence on the Partner list doesn’t guarantee a major reveal. It might mean something, but it’s unlikely. We’ll have to wait until next week to find out.
