Nintendo Releases Super Mario Galaxy Movie Teaser, Arriving April 2026

Update 12/09/2025: According to Variety, the release schedule for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie has shifted, moving from April 2, 2026, to April 3, 2026.

Initial Announcement:

As anticipated, Nintendo revealed the first glimpse of the Super Mario Bros. Movie follow-up during its latest Nintendo Direct presentation. Titled The Super Mario Galaxy Movie, the project is slated for release in April 2026.

Shigeru Miyamoto introduced the segment by commemorating the 40th anniversary of the Super Mario Bros. franchise. A brief teaser showcased a journey across the Mushroom Kingdom, climbs up to Peach’s Castle before ascending into the cosmos to unveil the film’s title.

After the title reveal, Illumination CEO Chris Meledandri confirmed that the original voice actors will return: Chris Pratt as Mario, Anya Taylor-Joy reprising her role as Princess Peach, Charlie Day as Luigi, Jack Black voicing Bowser, Keegan-Michael Key as Toad, and Kevin Michael Richardson as Kamek.

While no new characters or cast additions were disclosed, Meledandri emphasized that the film draws heavily from the Super Mario Galaxy titles as the foundational storyline. Further details are expected closer to the movie’s launch.

Though the movie retains its April 2026 window, Nintendo omitted the earlier-confirmed April 2 date, sparking speculation around a potential adjustment to the initially confirmed release date.
