Nightdive Studios & id Software Surprise-Release Heretic + Hexen Remastered Collection on PC and Consoles

During QuakeCon 2025, id Software and Nightdive Studios unveiled **Heretic+Hexen**, a surprise release bundling remastered editions of the cult-classic 1990s fantasy shooters. Originally crafted by Raven Software using id’s DOOM Engine, Heretic (1994) and Hexen (1995) now feature modernized visuals and gameplay enhancements.

The compilation is immediately accessible across PC, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PS4, PS5, and Nintendo Switch—though no dedicated Switch 2 port has been announced. Xbox Game Pass subscribers on console and PC can dive in at no extra cost. A future addition to GeForce Now’s library is also confirmed, pending a launch timeline.

Owners of digital copies of **Heretic: Shadow of the Serpent Riders** or the Hexen series on Xbox or Steam qualify for complimentary upgrades to the remastered versions. Newcomers gain access to all legacy content plus **Heretic: Faith Renewed** and **Hexen: Vestiges of Grandeur**—exclusive expansions developed jointly by Nightdive and id Software.

Enhancements include 4K/120Hz support, scalable display options, accessibility adjustments, and mod compatibility. The **Vault** archives showcase prototype artwork, scrapped assets, and behind-the-scenes materials from the titles’ development history, offering a nostalgic deep dive for longtime enthusiasts.
