Neil Druckmann confirms that Naughty Dog is working on a second game alongside Intergalactic.

It seems like we’ve only recently been introduced to Naughty Dog’s sci-fi action-adventure game Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet, but Neil Druckmann, the studio’s head, has confirmed that another game is in development.

Druckmann shared this update during an interview with the Press X to Continue podcast, explaining that while he is serving as writer and creative director for Intergalactic, there is another project in development at Naughty Dog where he is taking on a more producer-like role.

He added, “It’s been great to mentor the team, provide feedback, and be part of the executive discussions. I really enjoy switching between these roles, as it keeps my job exciting and fresh, preventing any boredom.”

The idea that multiple games are in development at Naughty Dog isn’t entirely new. The studio mentioned having more than one ambitious, brand-new single-player project in the works back in 2023, when it announced the cancellation of The Last of Us Online. Druckmann used similar language in an interview last summer, but this is the first confirmation that multiple projects are still in progress since then.

While Druckmann didn’t provide any details about the second project, it’s possible that it’s being led by Shaun Escayg, who rejoined Naughty Dog in 2021 after serving as creative director on Crystal Dynamics’ Marvel Avengers.

Druckmann has previously hinted at a potential third The Last of Us game, but he recently seemed to backtrack, telling fans, “Don’t count on there being more.” For now, his focus is on Intergalactic, which is expected to release in 2027. Though details about the game are limited, Druckmann recently announced another actor who has been cast in Intergalactic following their appearance in The Last of Us TV show.
