Marvel Rivals Season 3 Release Date and Details Announced

Marvel and NetEase have announced Season 3 of *Marvel Rivals*, titled *The Abyss Awakens*, which launches July 11. The update introduces Phoenix as a playable Duelist-class hero, harnessed with cosmic energy, along with the Klyntar: Celestial Husk battleground. Additional highlights include fresh Team-Up mechanics, revamped systems, and limited-time events. Developers confirmed future seasons will follow a bimonthly release cadence.

In this timeline, Jean Grey and the Phoenix have merged as one entity, journeying through galaxies to aid civilizations. During the Timestream Entanglement event, they detected a growing threat at the universe’s edge—a corrupting force affecting even cosmic beings. Determined to eradicate it, the Phoenix ventures into the abyss, unleashing flames to destroy the darkness. In-game, Phoenix’s abilities focus on high-damage offense.

The Klyntar map draws from celestial lore: Knull, a primordial entity, severed a Celestial’s head, which later formed Knowhere. The remaining corpse orbits Klyntar, weathered by cosmic forces and Knull’s influence. Fallen remnants now shape the planet’s terrain, creating a jagged battlefield.

Season 3 overhauls missions and adds accessory customization. A competitive mode arrives mid-season, alongside Blade as a new fighter. Verified university students in select regions can unlock 10 rotating costumes and MVP animations. Email verification debuts in the US and UK, with global expansion planned.

*Marvel Rivals* returns to San Diego Comic-Con (July 24–27) with exclusive demos, panels, and merchandise at the Marriott Marquis. The July 25 panel, “Marvel Rivals: Hero Creation from Concept to Showcase,” will delve into character design. Attendees can also preview upcoming content and participate in giveaways.
