Credenzio Studios recently launched a Kickstarter campaign for Lionhearts, an ambitious medieval title seeking $100K in funding. Over 50% of the goal was met within hours. The project expands on the studio’s prior ROBLOX release, Lionhearts: Crusade, which garnered 6.3 million plays since 2018.
Built using Unreal Engine 5, the standalone game blends large-scale strategy with roleplaying elements. Developers cite influences from titles like Mount and Blade: Bannerlord, Assassin’s Creed, and EVE Online, aiming to create a dynamic feudal sandbox. Set during the Third Crusade, the game emphasizes historical realism in its 12th-century setting, where player agency supersedes scripted NPC interactions.
Players choose among military, religious, or mercantile paths across 16 factions and 14 guilds, unlocking 60+ specialized roles. Aspiring rulers can climb social ranks through warfare, trade, or diplomacy, eventually governing territories as monarchs or guild masters. The persistent world features 12 player-led kingdoms and 4 holy orders, with every leadership role filled by real players managing armies, resources, and alliances.
Advanced server meshing technology aims to eliminate traditional loading screens, stitching regional instances into a seamless open world. Political systems allow for shifting power dynamics—monarchs must negotiate internal faction disputes while expanding borders. Combat combines large-scale siege mechanics with character progression, rewarding strategic coordination.
Given its scope, achieving full persistence poses significant technical challenges for the indie team. A visual demo is available via Kickstarter for early backers, while Steam users can track development by wishlisting Lionhearts.
