Iconic Studio Codemasters Faces Closure

It’s been a while since Codemasters released a game on Nintendo platforms; the last was F1 Race Stars for Wii U in 2014. The studio has historically supported Nintendo, creating titles for Wii, DS, SNES, and NES. Titles like Micro Machines V3 were memorable.

Recently, Codemasters has faced challenges. EA stopped their WRC development, affecting many employees. A report suggests EA might shut down Codemasters entirely, merging staff into F1 and Need for Speed projects.

The Black Panther cancellation isn’t the only cut. Upcoming layoffs could reach 400, with Codemasters’ main office closing and employees moving to F1 and a new Need for Speed.

EA’s actions have affected employees, including the shutdown of a Black Panther project and Cliffhanger Games. This follows Warner Bros. shutting down some studios earlier. It’s sad to see Codemasters in this situation.
