Game Science, creators of Black Myth: Wukong, have unveiled Black Myth: Zhong Kui, the latest entry in their action RPG series targeting PC and major consoles, though a precise launch window remains unconfirmed.
The studio’s official site clarifies common queries about the project, addressing fans’ curiosity about its connection to Wukong and development status.
While Zhong Kui joins the Black Myth universe, the studio emphasizes it is not a follow-up to Wukong. Explaining the decision to prioritize this title over a sequel, Game Science stated, “After finishing the Destined One’s tale, we aim to experiment—crafting unique gameplay, pushing creative boundaries, and reimagining storytelling approaches. Zhong Kui emerged organically from this vision. We’re eager to explore innovations while addressing past shortcomings.”
The team reassured fans that Wukong’s legacy remains intact, adding, “For those devoted to Black Myth: Wukong, rest assured—the adventure westward is far from concluded.”
Despite the announcement, Zhong Kui remains in its infancy. The developers admitted the narrative is still in its conceptual phase, describing the project as “barely past the drafting board.” The teaser trailer, a non-playable cinematic, aims simply to signal the title’s existence rather than showcase gameplay mechanics.
While substantial details may take years to materialize, the reveal highlights Game Science’s ambition to expand its mythological universe. Players can anticipate further updates on both Zhong Kui and future Wukong-related ventures as development progresses.
