The Mesa presents a parched landscape marked by deep canyons and treacherous terrain. Within PEAK’s third level, these formations conceal mineshafts masked by environmental illusions. While these tunnels appear to offer vital resources, their explosive traps demand careful navigation.

These underground networks generate dynamically based on daily map seeds, typically forming along steep cliff faces or mountain walls. Access often requires specialized gear like grapple cannons for vertical entry. When main entrances appear obstructed, descending through ceiling shafts may provide alternative access.
Rail systems crisscross the tunnels, leading to branching passages containing rare materials. All mineshafts store volatile explosives activated upon trespasser detection. Survivors must strategize to neutralize these hazards.

Redirecting Explosives
When visible from tunnel openings, carefully retrieve and hurl dynamite using the interaction key. Partial charging (below 50% on the throw meter) allows controlled relocation of multiple charges. Position throws strategically to clear access paths.
Controlled Detonation

For concealed explosives, activate tripwires through brief entry before retreating along pre-planned escape routes. The ensuing blast sterilizes the area, permitting safe looting. Strategically placed food items can transform the explosion into an impromptu cooking method, enhancing nutritional value through controlled exposure.
