The Lonely Wanderer is the sixth main quest in the Dark Brotherhood questline of Oblivion.
This quest follows The Assassinated Man and sends you on your first mission from Ocheeva to eliminate Faelian in the Imperial City.
In this guide, you’ll learn where to find Faelian, how to kill him without witnesses, and how to earn the Shadowhunt bow.
Starting The Lonely Wanderer
To begin The Lonely Wanderer, complete The Assassinated Man and speak to Ocheeva in the Dark Brotherhood Sanctuary.
She assigns you to assassinate Faelian, a High Elf in the Imperial City. She also mentions a bonus reward for a kill with no witnesses to avoid attention from the Imperial Legion captain, Adamus Phillida.
Before leaving, Vicente may give you advice about asking an Elf in the Imperial City for information about Faelian’s location.
Finding Faelian’s Location
Head to the Imperial City’s Market District and find a High Elf to ask about Faelian. A good option is Delos Fandas at The Feed Bag.
To get information from NPCs, raise their disposition, which may require persuasion or bribes. A disposition above 50 usually works.
Delos reveals that Faelian often visits the Tiber Septim Hotel in the Talos Plaza District. Speak to Augusta Calidia at the hotel to learn Faelian stays with his wife, Atraena, upstairs.
Head to the first room on the right upstairs and speak with Atraena. Again, raise her disposition to get more info. She says Faelian is at Lorkmir’s house in the Elven Gardens District.
Assassinating Faelian
Go to Lorkmir’s house in the Elven Gardens District. Pick the lock to enter and find Faelian. If he’s not there, try returning at a different time of day.
Kill Faelian without anyone noticing. You can speak to him first, then strike him down quietly.
After the assassination, return to Ocheeva in the Dark Brotherhood Sanctuary to receive your rewards.
Rewards and Next Steps
Report back to Ocheeva. If you completed the assassination without witnesses, you’ll receive the Shadowhunt Bow as a bonus reward.
The Shadowhunt Bow deals damage to Health and Magicka, weakens enemies to poison, and has a turn Undead effect. This bow is highly sought after and one of the best in the game.
After completing The Lonely Wanderer, you can proceed to the next quest, Bad Medicine.
