Ninja Gaiden 4 boasts an expansive arsenal of armaments, each tailored for distinct combat styles and attack sequences. While previous titles centered on protagonist Ryu Hayabusa, the latest entry shifts focus to newcomer Yakumo for much of its weapon diversity. Despite Ryu’s limited selection, his signature Dark Dragon Blade compensates with unparalleled power.
Intriguingly, Yakumo gains access to his iteration of the Dark Dragon Blade, though only during the final stages of the campaign. Post-completion, players must wait until advanced phases of New Game Plus to wield it again. However, a hidden method permits early acquisition in subsequent playthroughs.
Discover critical insights about the Dark Dragon Blade’s mechanics and early unlock requirements below.
Acquiring the Dark Dragon Blade

Typically obtained during Chapter 19’s climax after defeating Ryu Hayabusa, the blade temporarily vanishes post-story due to its connection to the defeated Dark Dragon. Standard chapter replays restrict access, but New Game Plus offers a solution through Boss Trials.
Completing all Trial challenges post-campaign permanently adds the weapon to Yakumo’s arsenal. Success requires clearing every boss encounter with either character, regardless of performance grade. Subsequent NG+ runs then grant immediate access to this formidable armament.
Dark Dragon Blade Mechanics

Though visually distinct between characters, both versions offer similar combat advantages. Yakumo’s blade emulates Ryu’s legacy weapon, enabling Gleam Form activations following Fatal Flash maneuvers. This state enhances counterattacks and modifies Ultimate Techniques for increased devastation.
Enhanced Customization
New Game Plus introduces a special charm that amplifies the blade’s damage output while increasing Yakumo’s vulnerability. This high-risk modifier caters to advanced combat strategies.
