He Is Coming Kingmaker Mode Guide (Multiplayer Boss Mode)

Written by Michael Owen | He is Coming

Kingmaker Mode in He Is Coming transforms your endgame build into a community boss battle, allowing you to challenge others’ creations in exchange. Blending enemies from Woodland and Swampland biomes, this mode lets players select item bundles before starting a run. Though optional, it adds significant replayability and rewards.

How Kingmaker Mode Works

  • Boss Creation: After completing a run, your character becomes a potential boss for others.
  • Player-Made Bosses: Randomized builds from the community appear as mid-run challenges, utilizing real items, traits, and strategies.
  • Dynamic Runs: Each attempt features unique combinations of enemies and bosses.

Key Mechanics

At the start, choose 3 out of 6 item sets (3 from each biome). These choices define your build’s foundation. The run mixes standard enemies from both biomes, while bosses are exclusively player-submitted builds. To succeed, defeat 5 bosses to earn a crown.

Rewards: Crowns and Skins

  • Earning a crown unlocks cosmetic character skins, which don’t affect gameplay.
  • Collecting skins requires consistent success in Kingmaker runs.

Strategies for Success

  • Synergy Over Specialization: Prioritize items with overlapping effects (e.g., thorns + poison).
  • Engage Trash Mobs: Farm them for upgrades and resources.
  • Counter Common Boss Tactics: Equip armor-piercing or healing-disruption items like Acid or Flame Burst.
  • Fuse Food Early: Seek cauldrons to craft powerful consumables like Vampiric Wine.
  • Know When to Stop: Secure 5 boss kills and exit if your build falters.
  • Optimize Uploaded Builds: Tweak your endgame setup to dominate others’ runs.

FAQ

  • Unlocking Kingmaker: Available by default—select it at the run start.
  • Boss Authenticity: Bosses are based on actual player builds.
  • Crown Requirements: 5 boss kills suffice for rewards.
  • Non-PvP Option: Kingmaker can be ignored without missing core content.
  • Build Longevity: Uploaded builds may cycle out over time.
