Discord introduces a new 4-character identifier that members can display next to their usernames. This serves as a promotional tool, showcasing your community. When clicked, it reveals a brief overview of the server, allowing users to join directly. It’s an effective method for increasing visibility and attracting new participants.
Steps to configure a community identifier

Administrators can activate this feature by applying three Server Boosts. These boosts may be acquired through member contributions, accessible via the server’s dropdown menu. The cost typically starts at $5, varying by geographic location. These resources enable various enhancements, including activating community identifiers.

Navigate to the Server Boosts section found in the upper navigation panel. This area displays current boost allocations and available enhancements. Select the identifier feature and choose Activate Feature to begin setup. Configuration options will appear in a new dialog window.
Customization process
- Access server configuration through the main dropdown menu
- Select identifier settings to adjust characters (maximum 4 alphanumeric/symbolic), visual elements, and color scheme
Members can choose displayed identifiers through their profile options. The selection menu includes all available identifiers from their current communities.
