Ghost of Yotei: The Ainu Kotan Walkthrough

Begin your journey in Ghost of Yotei by encountering Konupas, an Ainu trader wandering through the Tokachi Range. While she frequently moves between camps, you’ll reliably locate her north of the Mysterious Gate. Approach cautiously to soothe her unsettled horse—a key step before she introduces herself. After this interaction, she’ll mention Husko Kotan, a hidden settlement in the Nayoro Wilds, marking your destination.

Alternatively, proceed directly to Husko Kotan to meet elder Huci, who initiates The Heart of an Ainu questline. Assist her and Kaeka in retrieving a ancestral artifact to obtain the Robes for Sitturaynu. This attire plays a pivotal role in later narrative developments.

Accessing the village requires traveling to the Central Ferry by the Great Lake. After crossing via Huci’s assistance, navigate northern woodlands and snowfields until spotting smoke from Husko Kotan. Upon arrival, fast-travel points activate alongside cultural quests and upgraded vendors offering regional goods.

Completing The Ainu Kotan Questline

Upon reaching Husko Kotan, seek out Kaeka the Weaver for robe enhancements. Upgrades demand collecting 30 Ainu Items—glowing artifacts found near waterways, abandoned camps, deformed trees, and scorched structures across Ezo. Wearing the robes summons a guiding firefly to nearby collectibles. Key locations include:

  • Mukkuri beside the Sarubetsu River, west of Courage’s Reliquary
  • Ku-e-shinok Ring north of Saito’s Recruitment Outpost
  • Makiri on a minuscule isle within Lake Kuttara
  • Raoma beneath a stone arch along the southern shoreline

Return to Kaeka after gathering items: Tier II at 5 pieces, Tier III at 10, and full reinforcement at 15. Each stage grants exploration bonuses like avian markers for secrets or automated herb collection.

Explore village activities including Reflection Altars, Wolf Pack missions, and legendary stories that delve into Ainu heritage. Cultural elements like mouth tattoos, lupine iconography, and traditional cise dwellings enrich the narrative. Engaging villagers reveals optional objectives and expands lore through casual interactions.
