Comprehensive Mech Assemble: Zombie Swarm Beginner’s Guide

As with other bullet hell roguelike games, Mech Assemble challenges you with hordes of zombies and tough bosses. With a wide variety of abilities, mechs, and weapons, the game can be overwhelming for newcomers, which is why this guide will help you navigate the swarm and overcome formidable enemies.

Upgrading Your Mech

Mech upgrades are vital for increasing strength and damage against tougher enemies. If underpowered, the game alerts you with a warning. While ignoring this is possible, it makes zombie and boss battles tougher. Upgrading is straightforward:

  • Access the Mech Tab in the lobby.
  • Press or hold the upgrade button.

Upgrades require gold, with higher-level mechs demanding more. Not all mechs are equally valuable; as you unlock more, you’ll choose the best with Shards. Gold can be obtained through stage clears and other methods.

Gathering Free Resources

As levels increase, upgrades become costlier. Resources grow scarce, making alternative methods essential. Free rewards can be earned by completing tasks, progressing through the Battle Pass, or purchasing from the Shop. The “auto-play” feature, available at level 5, collects gold and XP over 12 hours. Redeeming codes also provides valuable rewards.

These resources aid in mech and weapon upgrades, unlock new weapons, and provide diamonds for respawns after death.

Effective Weapons

Mech Assemble offers numerous weapons, each excelling in specific scenarios. Effective ones often feature AoE effects, aiding in clearing swarms.

Ideal weapons have low cooldowns, high damage, and beneficial upgrades. Some top choices are:

Weapon Features
Laser Turret
(Excellent)
– Deploys a turret that tracks and fires lasers.
– Upgrades add a freeze effect for crowd control during zombie waves.
Thunder Spear
(Legendary)
– Spears descend to deal heavy damage.
– Upgrades boost range and damage.
Firethrower
(Rare)
– Sprays fire, inflicting burning effects.
– Upgrades enhance damage over time.
Laser Cannon
(Excellent)
– A continuous laser beam for straight-line damage.
– Remains effective even in later stages.
Frost Beam Cannon
(Legendary)
– Fires freezing beams to slow or immobilize enemies.
– Enhances crowd control capabilities.

The Lightning Shield, available via VIP Battle Pass, is a notable accessory, though optional for free players.

Adding Weapons

Each mech can carry up to four weapons. While powerful weapons may seem appealing, consider their drawbacks, like longer reload times. Diversifying weapon effects, especially crowd control and status effects, enhances survival against swarms. Accessories boost stats without drawbacks.

Prioritizing Weapon Upgrades

Upgrading every weapon isn’t practical due to costs and effectiveness. Focus on weapons that provide AoE attacks, low cooldowns, and strong passive effects. The Laser Cannon is a top priority for damage and passive upgrades. Don’t overlook Mech weapons, as they contribute consistently during battles.

Top Abilities

Effective abilities include AoE upgrades, debuffs, and increased firing rates. Abilities like Split Bullets, Bullet Penetration, and damage boosts are crucial. Managing conflicting abilities requires balancing, ensuring strengths offset weaknesses.

Survival Movement

Mobility is key in avoiding damage. Keep moving, especially during zombie swarms, to avoid being overwhelmed. Collect green energy to level up and gain abilities. Positioning during events is crucial; find areas with fewer entrances to reduce enemy directions. During boss fights, clear incoming enemies to create space.
