Bug Pokémon type guide and weakness

Mastering a Bug-type’s vulnerabilities helps trainers counter these creatures effectively. Whether defending against them or deploying your own Scolipede, understanding resistances and offensive capabilities enhances battle strategy.

Bug-type vulnerabilities

Bug Pokémon suffer significantly from fire, flying, and rock-type moves. When facing Charizard or Braviary, consider switching to non-Bug allies to avoid devastating damage. Rock-type attacks from Pokémon like Tyranitar also pose major threats.

Effective counters

Talonflame’s dual fire/flying typing makes it exceptionally dangerous to insect Pokémon. Powerful fliers like Staraptor and fire specialists such as Arcanine can swiftly eliminate Bug-types. Rock-based attackers like Gigalith also excel at crushing exoskeletons through sheer force.

Bug-type resistances

Ground, fighting, and grass attacks have reduced effectiveness against Bug-types. Pokémon like Excadrill or Breloom struggle to deal meaningful damage to armored insects like Forretress.

Offensive advantages

Bug-type moves deal super-effective damage to dark, psychic, and grass opponents. Deploy Heracross against psychic threats like Gardevoir or use Escavalier to exploit Dark-type weaknesses. However, steel and fairy-types like Klefki often shrug off bug attacks.
