ASKA Guide | How to Set Up Patrol

In ASKA, establishing patrols reduces stress by maintaining village safety. Begin by constructing the Barracks, hiring and outfitting a guard, selecting their combat specialization, and defining a patrol path encompassing living quarters and workspaces.

Assigning clearly labeled Patrol Markers with strategic placement guarantees consistent security loops across your settlement.

Constructing the Barracks

3

Unlocking the Barracks requires crafting the Workshop Pit first. Once built, the Defense section reveals its blueprints. Construction demands three Logs, seven Long Sticks, nine Ropes, six Large Stones, six Stones, ten Sticks, and ten Bark. The completed structure becomes your security headquarters for guard management.

Hiring Suitable Guards

Summon villagers using the Eye of Odin and Yoten Blood, then evaluate their combat aptitude. Prioritize high vitality and advantageous traits like endurance or damage resistance. A candidate like Anders, boasting Mighty Vigor for sustained stamina and Resilient Surge for emergency recovery, exemplifies ideal qualities. Assess negative traits carefully to avoid compromising effectiveness.

1

Arming Guards and Combat Roles

Fabricate early-game weapons like Crude Clubs, Basic Spiked Weapons, Light Shields, or Two-Handed Heavy Clubs at the Workshop. The Barracks supports three tactical configurations: Skirmisher (light weaponry), Bruiser (heavy weapons), and Warrior (shielded combatant). Assign your guard via the management menu (R key), configure their loadout, and ensure their inventory matches the selected gear type.

2

Configuring Patrol Routes

Access the Tasks interface (Q key) and select your guard to establish patrols. Name routes intuitively (e.g., “Perimeter Watch”) and sequence checkpoints to overlap high-priority zones. Incorporate the Barracks as a central hub and schedule dwell times at each marker to optimize coverage during shifts.

Strategic Marker Placement

Deploy Patrol Markers from the construction menu using three Sticks and one Rope. Position these in resource hubs, housing clusters, or vulnerable perimeters to extend protective coverage. Use systematic labeling (e.g., “Alpha-1,” “Alpha-2”) for multi-route organization, then integrate them into patrol sequences for continuous monitoring.
