11 Bit Studios has confirmed the release date for its console edition of Frostpunk 2, scheduled to debut on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S platforms on September 18, 2025.
The date reveal coincided with a promotional video shared online, though the official YouTube upload appeared briefly before being made private. Third-party channels have since preserved the trailer, ensuring its availability despite the sudden takedown.
Mirroring its PC availability through Xbox Game Pass, the survival strategy title will be accessible via the subscription service for console users upon launch.
The console release follows plans outlined in the game’s expansion roadmap, which includes two additional DLC packs arriving before 2026 and a final unannounced add-on slated for later that year.
While the premature announcement may have caused unintended attention, it highlights growing excitement for the title’s arrival on modern consoles. Since its 2024 PC debut, fans have anticipated its transition to Sony and Microsoft platforms following widespread critical acclaim.
Wccftech’s Chris Wray praised the sequel highly in his 2024 review, stating: “Frostpunk 2 expands the franchise’s bleak vision through layered political dynamics and territorial expansion challenges. While maintaining the series’ signature difficulty, its refined mechanics create a gripping mix of strategy and survival. A visually striking, atmospheric triumph in the city-building genre that innovates while honoring its roots.”
