EXODUS Sci-Fi RPG from Former BioWare Developers Reveals New Details and Store Listings

Archetype Entertainment has unveiled a fresh Q&A session discussing EXODUS, offering insights into gameplay mechanics and showcasing unreleased visuals. The title is now available to add to wishlists on leading platforms: Steam, Epic Games Store, PlayStation, and Xbox.

During the session, Studio Co-Founder Chad Robertson and Director Chris King revealed the project drew significant inspiration from the Mass Effect franchise for its branching narratives and persistent world evolution. They also highlighted combat dynamics influenced by Guerrilla’s Horizon titles and exploration elements reminiscent of Retro Studios’ Metroid Prime, emphasizing environmental puzzles and solitary discoveries.

Weapon design follows a modular philosophy, where travelers utilize adaptable equipment due to limited cargo space. The Recycler tool, for instance, serves dual purposes: harvesting resources and functioning as a customizable firearm. It transforms scavenged materials into ammunition, allowing diverse tactical approaches without excessive inventory management.

Stealth mechanics are fully integrated alongside combat and dialog-driven resolutions, prioritizing player choice. Customizable Aegis armor and companion specialties enable varied playstyles. Early confrontations involve human adversaries and Celestial Constructs—automated guardians of forgotten tech. Later, players encounter escalating threats like the Rot, a corruptive force altering both machinery and ecosystems.

Secondary missions are crafted to enrich companion bonds, unlock enhancements, and expand lore, avoiding superficial objectives. Protagonist Jun Aslan begins as an everyperson unaware of their latent capabilities, evolving through player-driven decisions that shape their role in humanity’s survival. Ancient Remnants—mysterious artifacts central to the narrative—drive Jun’s journey, presenting ethically charged dilemmas about their application.

After a gameplay reveal in late 2024, EXODUS re-emerges with new information, with developers hinting at further announcements before year-end. Speculation suggests a potential appearance at The Game Awards, where the project was first announced in 2023.
