Dying Light: The Beast Launches on August 22

At Summer Game Fest 2025, Polish studio Techland unveiled the launch date for Dying Light: The Beast, arriving August 22 on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S. Originally planned as DLC for Dying Light 2, the project evolved into a standalone title due to a 2023 leak, as confirmed by the developers.

First revealed at Gamescom 2024, the game marks the comeback of Kyle Crane, protagonist of the inaugural Dying Light. Actor Roger Craig Smith returns to voice Crane, who has endured over a decade of experimentation, granting him volatile, monstrous abilities. Players will harness these powers to dismantle foes through visceral melee combat and environmental destruction.

The title retains the franchise’s signature day-night cycle: daylight hours focus on exploration and resource gathering, while nocturnal gameplay forces confrontations with deadlier infected. Parkour mechanics return alongside vehicle integration, revisiting mechanics last seen in The Following expansion.

Set in Castor Woods—a region mirroring the Swiss Alps—the game features diverse zones including abandoned resorts, industrial complexes, and marshlands. Four-player cooperative modes allow shared progression across all content.

Pre-orders ($59.99) include the Harran Bundle, granting:

  • Juggernaut Armor – A reinforced outfit originally awarded to elite survivors in Dying Light.
  • Engraved Combat Blade – Features zombie-themed etchings reminiscent of the first game’s artwork.
  • Stealth Crossbow – A silent weapon reintroduced from The Following expansion.
  • Memorial Pistol – Custom sidearm honoring Jade Aldemir, a key character from Harran’s outbreak.
  • All-Terrain Vehicle – Enhanced buggy for traversing Castor Woods’ treacherous terrain.

Dying Light 2: Ultimate Edition owners receive both the base game and Harran Bundle gratis, fulfilling the edition’s promised second expansion.
