Devil May Cry 5 Sales Surpass 10 Million, Nearly One Million in Recent Months

Following Street Fighter 6’s achievement of 5 million copies distributed, CAPCOM reveals yet another commercial triumph: Devil May Cry 5 has now crossed the 10 million sales mark. Launched March 8, 2019, across PC and last-gen consoles, the title reached this milestone after a strong performance spike in recent months.

Initial momentum saw 2 million units moved within weeks, followed by slower progression until hitting 5 million by April 2022. New data shows the game surged from 9.1 million copies sold as of March 2025 to over 10 million shortly after – nearly 900,000 units added in under a quarter.

This resurgence aligns with multiple factors. The animated Devil May Cry series on Netflix reportedly drove significant interest, debuting with 5.3 million views worldwide and placing fourth in global English-language series rankings during its premiere week. Regional success included seven straight days in Japan’s top 10 streaming charts. Concurrently, a spring promotion offered discounted access to the franchise.

CAPCOM’s Platinum Titles registry distinguishes the base game from its Special Edition, which has independently moved 1 million copies. Combined, both versions have collectively exceeded 11 million lifetime sales.

Wccftech’s Francesco De Meo praised the installment as a series pinnacle, awarding a near-perfect 9.8/10 score:

“Devil May Cry V evolves the franchise’s signature combat to unprecedented heights, merging the finest elements of previous entries with groundbreaking mechanics. While newcomers will experience an exceptionally polished action title, longtime fans discover a meticulously crafted system rewarding mastery – the definitive evolution of a decade-long legacy.”
