Batman Arkham Knight’s Notorious Switch Port Gains Major Performance Enhancements on Nintendo Switch 2

Nintendo’s next-gen console demonstrates unexpected prowess with legacy titles, notably enhancing the notoriously unstable Switch port of Batman: Arkham Knight, previously plagued by severe technical shortcomings.

A recent Digital Foundry breakdown reveals how the upgraded hardware leverages a compatibility layer to boost framerates and stability for Rocksteady’s caped crusader adventure. While visual compromises like low-res textures and absent anti-aliasing remain inherent to the 2024 port, the Switch 2’s horsepower mitigates the original version’s crippling performance drops. Though occasional instability persists, this backward-compat innovation signals potential for revitalizing other troubled prior-gen ports.

Originally praised for its story and gameplay, Arkham Knight gained notoriety for disastrous PC and Switch releases. The latter suffered from frequent sub-20fps dips, rendering segments nearly unplayable at launch.

The Switch 2’s global rollout hasn’t been flawless, however. Reports emerged today of console screens being scratched during retail handling, with employees allegedly damaging units by attaching receipts directly to packaging.
