Baldur’s Gate 3 Menzoberranzan Mod Alpha Set for June 2026 Release

Though Baldur’s Gate 3’s mod community may not rival the scale of Bethesda titles like Skyrim, ambitious projects like the Path to Menzoberranzan mod are gaining momentum. Led by creator Lotrich and backed by 1,300+ Patreon supporters, the team now includes over 130 collaborators.

A recent Discord update revealed the project’s organizational framework: directors oversee development branches, supported by leads and senior members managing contributors across disciplines. Though the full release remains years away, an initial Alpha is slated for early 2026, starting with a prologue comparable to BG3’s Nautiloid sequence. Future updates will expand locations and storylines based on feedback and technical feasibility.

Set in the Forgotten Realms, the mod introduces a standalone campaign centered on Athkatla’s bustling markets and the hazardous Underdark, leading to the Drow’s formidable capital. Spanning three acts like BG3, it revisits Baldur’s Gate 2 locales while introducing new regions. Players take on a fresh protagonist with personalized quests and up to 8 original companions, some romantic.

Act I explores Athkatla’s iconic landmarks, including the Adventurer Mart and Jon Irenicus’ abandoned lair. Act II charts the descent into the Underdark, culminating in Menzoberranzan itself for Act III. Key features include:

  • Professionally voiced characters (no AI-generated dialogue);
  • Original 3D models, concept art, and bespoke environments;
  • A visually distinct portrayal of Menzoberranzan;
  • Expansive side quests alongside the central narrative;
  • New gear, cosmetics, and NPC designs;
  • An original musical score.

Meanwhile, another BG3 mod, The Grand Theater – Sell your Lute to the Devil, is reportedly a quarter finished. For competitive play, the Versus Mode mod offers multiplayer challenges.
