According to Game Developer, Firaxis Games, a studio under 2K, has implemented workforce reductions. While the company declined to specify the exact number affected, insiders suggest “dozens” of staff members lost their positions.

2K described the cuts as part of organizational changes to “enhance efficiency and foster innovation.” Among those impacted was acclaimed writer Emma Kidwell, known for her contributions to *Civilization VII* and *Marvel’s Midnight Suns*, where she crafted narratives for Deadpool and Storm. On LinkedIn, Kidwell highlighted her versatility, stating she’s “adept at tackling diverse creative challenges.”

Hi! I was laid off from Firaxis this morning. I wrote leaders and civs for Civilization VII (NDA for now) and Deadpool and Storm for Marvel’s Midnight Suns. I also wrote the award-nominated Hindsight.I’m available for full time, remote work starting ASAP. DMs are open:emmkid.info

Additional affected staff include lead character artist Matthew Davis, producer Maya H., QA specialist Logan Blackwood, and artist Daniella Zeman, all of whom shared updates on their departures.

This follows recent layoffs at Take-Two’s Cloud Chamber, where 80 roles were eliminated amid efforts to refocus development on the long-awaited *BioShock 4* project.
