While these were a bit unconventional, they worked well because they were based on real people. If you recognized them, it was a pleasant Easter egg; if not, they didn’t disrupt the overall experience.
The same can’t be said for Usada Pekora, a Japanese VTuber who will appear as a prepper in Death Stranding 2: On the Beach.

For those unfamiliar with her, Peko-chan is a Hololive streamer known for her bunny ears and carrot-adorned pig tails. You can catch the protagonist, Sam, encountering her in the short video clip above.
While this collaboration aims to attract Pekora’s fanbase to Death Stranding 2, it’s hard not to notice how out of place she seems in the game’s context.
