We’re unsure if you’re thinking about it, but with the Switch 2 almost here, a new Nintendo Direct is the last thing on our minds right now.
Still, we need more details about the upcoming games: what will be Nintendo’s big holiday release? When will Metroid Prime 4: Beyond come out? These questions are unanswered, and according to journalist Pedro Henrique Lutti Lippe, also known as PH Brazil, these answers might be revealed in June.
During a recent livestream, PH Brazil mentioned that Nintendo plans to hold its next Direct presentation either on the Switch 2’s launch week or the following week. PH Brazil has a track record of accurate Nintendo-related news, making this information credible.
This timing aligns with Nintendo’s past practices. Since 2012, the company has typically held a Direct presentation each June, often coinciding with major events like E3 or Summer Games Fest. While Nintendo doesn’t participate in Geoff Keighley’s event anymore, it often releases news around the same time.
The Switch 2 is set to launch globally on June 5, 2025, alongside games like Mario Kart World, Cyberpunk 2077: Ultimate Edition, Street Fighter 6: Years 1-2 Fighters Edition, and others.
Nintendo held a large Direct on April 2 to announce the Switch 2’s launch plans, followed by a 15-minute showcase for Mario Kart World later that month. Further details were revealed in an Ask the Developer interview, indicating the game was initially developed for the previous Switch model.
