South of Midnight – Guide to Finding All Notes – Chapter 5
Chapter 5 is notable for having the most notes so far, totaling 11. Here’s how to collect every one.
Burrower’s Pieces of the Self— The first note is situated immediately after locating Crouton. Look for it in the hollow tree adjacent to where Crouton is dispatched to eliminate the stigma.
Statue Flyer – Proceed further into the level and defeat the first enemy encountered, which will also reveal the first memory. The note is located on a broken fence post, directly below Auntie Belle’s large sign and statue.
Burrower’s – Iron – After the cutscene with Ms. Pearle and Jolene, this note is positioned on a box next to the fence, immediately to your right as you continue forward.
Hollow Dreamers – Follow the path laid out by the strands across the water to a vine-covered house. The note is on a couch situated on the porch of this house.
Kids Need a Hand – After battling the first Slug Haint and viewing the second memory, this note is inside the house directly in front of you. It rests on a table to your left upon entering the door.
Jo’s Penance – Before exiting the house, ascend the stairs to the second floor and go to the room at the end of the hall, the only one accessible to you. The note can be found on a desk with a guitar leaning against it.
Yard Sale Notice – This note is further along in the level and can’t be reached until you reach Swopes Farm. Use an echo box to climb a high tower and find a Floof knot. From this vantage point, you can see over a stack of hay bales. Jump over them to the other side, turn left towards a trailer, then right towards a small cabin. The note is on a folding chair here.
Honor thy Father and Mother – Return to the tower you climbed earlier and head towards the large house on your right. The door will unlock as you approach, and the note is in the family room immediately to your right upon entry.
A Bashful Farmhand in the Setting Sun – Before leaving the house, go up to the second floor. In one room, you’ll find a Floof knot, while in another, this note is on a desk beside a typewriter.
The Pigs are a Loss – When you reach the Pig Factory, enter the room containing a Floof knot on a container to your left. The note is on the ground level, sitting on a table immediately to the right of the door.
Sutter’s Will and Testament – After defeating Two-Toed Tom and being swallowed by the giant gator, you’ll find this note on the wooden floor next to a lamp on the other side of the pool where the squealing pig swims.
