South of Midnight – Where To Find All Notes – Chapter 7

South of Midnight offers over 100 notes to discover and read, enriching the narrative experience. This chapter alone contains 15 notes, making it one of the more note-heavy chapters in the game. If you’ve been following the guides, you’ve likely noticed an increase in the number of notes compared to earlier chapters, so it’s important to explore thoroughly to ensure you don’t miss any.

Chapter 7 is packed with 15 notes, more than the previous chapters. If you’re here, you probably want to locate all of them without missing a single one. Here’s a breakdown of where to find each one.

South of Midnight – Chapter 7 Notes Locations

Chapter 5 had 11, Chapter 6 had 10, and Chapter 7 brings 15 notes. This isn’t the peak, as later chapters will have even more, but this one is certainly notable.

The Lost Boy – At the start of the chapter, follow the path until you hear Hazel mention the old sawmill, which will occur just before crossing a river. After crossing, turn left to find a climbing path. Ascend and navigate around the rock wall to an area blocked by brambles and vines. The note is on a box next to a Floof knot.

Lost Liquor – This note is found after the first combat encounter. After defeating the enemies, look to the right. You’ll spot a health filament behind some branches. The note is on boxes near the branches, and you might as well collect the filament while you’re there.

Lieutenant Laurent – When you encounter the memory object showing a clip of Hazel’s mother, check to your right. The note is on an old dresser at the entrance of a path with a box and a Floof knot nearby.

The Babblin’ Boy – After finding the last note and crossing the river, turn left to find a path blocked by branches you can push aside. Beyond them, you’ll find the note on a box next to a metal sheet.

Baby Faced Laurent – From the last note, continue along the path until you reach a river you must cross using echoes of a bridge. After crossing, turn left to find this note on a box next to another metal sheet.

Burrower’s – Lil’ Drunkards – After finding the last note, follow the path and jump over two large bramble vines. The note is in a hollow dead tree directly ahead of you.

End of Prohibition – After clearing the combat encounter that ends with using Crouton to remove the Stigma, follow the path under a large tree. This note is to the right of the path, beneath the tree.

Boy out of Time – You’ll find this note shortly after the last one. Walk past the tree and look for a building to your right. The note is on a structure near the porch of the building.

Heart of Lace – After the cutscene at the Juke Joint, head back into the shop and go up the stairs. The note is on a box near Laurent and Lacey’s picture.

Treatment – Once you reach Milltown using the grapple, head straight down the path. This note is inside the house on the right, on a table near a Floof knot.

A Mother’s Last Words – Inside the same house as the last note, this note is on a bedframe at the back of the house.

Everything Helps – When you enter Milltown, you’ll see a broken-down well to your left. Turn left past the well and look to your right. Enter the building missing a wall, and you’ll find this note on a box to your right, near a combat encounter.

A Father’s Job – After clearing the combat arena beyond the last note and watching Laurent’s memory, you’ll find this note in a building to the right of a big crane, next to two crossed saws forming an ‘X.’

A Penny Saved – This note is on the second floor of the sawmill, reached after collecting all four of Laurent’s memories. Use your grapple to cross a large gap outside the mill. Once inside, look left and push two bundles of wood to reveal the note on a table.
