Talos Principle: Reawakened is a revamp of the classic puzzle game, bringing it into Unreal Engine 5 and adding fresh content, including the “In the Beginning” expansion. This update delights returning players with new features and challenges.

The “In the Beginning” expansion is a significant addition, particularly for seasoned players, as it includes 18 intricate puzzles, some of the most challenging in the series. Notably, 16 of these puzzles were co-created with active members of the Talos Principle community, showcasing collaborative creativity.

Talos Principle: In the Beginning – Dead End Puzzle Guide

The Dead End puzzle gets its name early on when connecting the red laser to its node activates a gate, blocking your path and forcing a reset. The solution is straightforward once you figure out the trick, but the puzzle remains complex.

Phase One

Upon entering the puzzle area, you’ll spot a red laser node directly ahead, a red laser generator to your left, and two connectors labeled C1 and C2 for clarity.

• Pick up C1, move it beyond where the gate appears, and link it to the blue laser and two blue nodes around the corner.

• Grab C2 and connect it to the red laser generator and red node while standing in the laser’s path. This allows you to bypass the gate. Once you step out of the laser’s line, the gate opens, and the blue laser connects to C1 and the blue nodes, leading you to C3.

• Connect C3 to the blue nodes but avoid linking it to C1. With this redundancy, place C1 in the path of the red laser.

• Flip the switch near C1 to open the gate, ensuring the red laser doesn’t reach the red node. Now, you can pick up C2.

Phase Two

• Connect C2 to the blue laser around the corner. Then, grab C1 and attach it to the blue laser while keeping C3 in place.

• Finally, connect C3 to the blue node around the corner, disabling the barrier to the tetromino and completing the puzzle.

The Dead End puzzle is a great example of how your robot’s presence can solve problems in creative ways, beyond just moving objects or triggering switches. It’s a clever challenge that rewards persistence and lateral thinking.
