To mark a decade since the game’s debut, Bethesda has rolled out the Fallout 4 Anniversary Edition across PC, PlayStation, and Xbox platforms. This updated package combines all six major DLC expansions—such as Far Harbor and Nuka-World—with more than 150 Creation Club offerings featuring new missions, weapons, settlements, and cosmetic items. A Nintendo Switch 2 release is slated for 2025, priced at $59.99 for new players. Existing owners can upgrade for $39.99 (base game) or $19.99 (Game of the Year Edition).
Similar to Skyrim’s Anniversary Edition update, this release has disrupted numerous mods reliant on F4SE, a critical script extender. Until F4SE gets updated, community members have already devised workarounds to restore compatibility by reverting to the prior game version (v1.10.984).

- Access Steam’s console via Win + R and enter steam://open/console
- Input the command: download_depot 377160 377162 5698952341602575696 to fetch the older Fallout4.exe (38MB). The file typically saves to C:Program Files (x86)Steamsteamappscontentapp_377160depot_377162
- Back up the current .exe in your game directory (e.g., C:SteamLibrarysteamappscommonFallout 4), renaming it to Fallout4_111137.exe. Replace it with the downloaded executable.
- Under Steam’s game properties, disable auto-updates by selecting “Only update when launched.” Always start the game via f4se_loader.exe to avoid triggering updates.
- Enable Read-only permissions on Fallout4.exe to block Steam from modifying it.
Mod functionality should now resume as before.
