ARC Raiders Sells 2.5 Million Copies in Debut Week

Recent data from Alinea Analytics reveals that Embark Studios’ third-person extraction shooter ARC Raiders achieved 2.5 million global sales in its first seven days, with PC platforms driving the majority of purchases.

The breakdown shows nearly 70% of sales originated from PC users via Steam, while PlayStation and Xbox accounted for 17.3% and 13% respectively. This distribution underscores the title’s stronger traction among desktop gamers.

Early momentum became evident when the title exceeded 200,000 simultaneous Steam users at launch, peaking above 260,000. Initial analyst projections estimated 1.6-1.9 million copies sold within the first week, but final figures surpassed expectations.

This performance translates to over $100 million in revenue, outpacing Embark’s previous multiplayer release The Finals. The premium pricing model contrasts with free-to-play competitors, potentially offering greater sustainability if player engagement persists.

Current Steam metrics show the game maintaining above 90,000 concurrent players since release, with only brief dips below six figures. Sustaining this traction will be critical as the studio prepares upcoming content outlined in its 2023 roadmap.

While the launch demonstrates commercial viability, long-term success will depend on consistent updates and community retention. The coming months will reveal whether ARC Raiders can establish itself as a lasting competitor in the extraction shooter genre.
