Embark CEO Praises Battlefield 6 as Impressive, THE FINALS Set for Long-Term Support

In a recent EDGE Magazine feature (issue 416), Patrick Söderlund, CEO of Embark Studios, addressed the simultaneous October release window shared between their upcoming title ARC Raiders and EA’s Battlefield 6.

Having previously led DICE through multiple Battlefield iterations, Söderlund acknowledged the franchise’s resurgence. Though no longer involved, he praised the upcoming installment’s visual polish and expressed optimism about its direction.

“It’s surreal given our history, but seeing Battlefield 6’s progress is genuinely impressive. The team’s dedication shines through and as someone who values the series, I’m thrilled it’s reaching its potential. I’ll definitely dive in – at least until ARC Raiders drops, then my focus shifts.”

Scheduled for October 30, ARC Raiders diverges from Battlefield’s formula as a squad-focused survival shooter merging PvP and PvE elements. This contrasts with Embark’s first project, THE FINALS, which shares Battlefield’s destructible environments and frenetic first-person combat.

Since its late 2023 debut, THE FINALS has experienced fluctuating player numbers. Söderlund reassured fans of long-term commitments, citing flexible development plans aligned with community feedback.

“We evaluate progress yearly. After its first anniversary in late 2024, we considered extending support. But when engagement surged earlier this year, it cemented our vision. We’re prepared to nurture this game for half a decade, if not longer.”

The game’s eighth seasonal update recently introduced enhanced environmental destruction mechanics alongside fresh armaments.
