Remedy’s co-op multiplayer debut, FBC: Firebreak, initially fell short of expectations. To revitalize the game, the studio’s upcoming Breakpoint update launches September 29, introducing significant gameplay adjustments and fresh content.
Highlighting the update is a new Crisis mission named Outbreak, set in the Research Sector. Players face mutated Mold enemies and environmental hazards, while the revamped Crisis Board replaces older job systems with rotating objectives refreshed every 30 minutes. Active Crises now total 4–6 at a time, blending extended missions with bite-sized tasks and randomized rewards.
Progression sees major changes: all gear is now fully upgraded upon unlock, with cosmetics and Perks tied to a simplified currency system. A new gun modification layer adds 27 customizable options, complemented by three heavy weapons (semi-auto rifle, rotary cannon, scattergun) and Freeze/Healing grenades. Enemy rosters expand with Mold Walkers, Turrets, and Corrupted Rangers, including airborne variants.

New players benefit from overhauled tutorials and streamlined onboarding, while QoL upgrades grant sliding mechanics and mobility while downed. Augments/Devices now activate faster with heightened impact. Future updates promise cross-platform voice chat (November) and another expansion by March 2026.
