Ready or Not Developer Dismisses Community Manager Over Charlie Kirk Comments

VOID Interactive, the studio behind Ready or Not, has terminated its Community Manager known as ‘Kaminsky’ following inflammatory remarks regarding the homicide of Charlie Kirk.

After inquiries about adding Kirk’s name to the game’s Discord filter list, Kaminsky stated:

Charlie’s already handled. Coincidentally, my roommate and I were just discussing his shooting. My take? No significant loss occurred.

Amid backlash, VOID Interactive announced:

We condemn the offensive statements made by a team member about a recent tragedy. These views contradict our principles. The individual’s employment has ceased, and we’ve reinforced expectations for public communications. Our priority is maintaining a constructive community environment for Ready or Not.

This incident follows prior disputes involving VOID. A 2021 publishing agreement with Team17 dissolved abruptly months after its announcement. While rumors suggested cancellation tied to a leaked mission involving a campus shooting scenario, developers dismissed these claims.

On June 16, 2022, Valve temporarily removed Ready or Not from Steam after intellectual property complaints. The dispute centered on a virtual venue named Pryzm, mirroring a UK club chain. The title reappeared on the platform within 48 hours.

Despite controversies, Ready or Not achieved commercial success on consoles, surpassing three million sales within two months of release. Combined PC and console purchases now exceed thirteen million units globally.
