Xbox Series X/S US Price Increase in Two Weeks

Microsoft has revealed another round of price adjustments for its Xbox Series X/S consoles in the United States, set to begin on October 3, 2025. This marks the second increase this year, following a May 2025 update that raised costs globally. The company attributed the decision to “ongoing economic shifts,” acknowledging the impact on consumers while emphasizing the move was “evaluated thoroughly.” Accessories and international pricing remain unchanged for now.

The latest hikes follow significant jumps earlier this year, where the Series S (both storage models) rose by $80, the Series X by $100, and its 2TB special edition by $130. While less drastic than May’s increases, the new adjustments will push base models further:

  • Xbox Series X – $649.99 (up $50)
  • Xbox Series X 2TB Galaxy Special Edition – $799.99 (up $70)
  • Xbox Series S 512GB – $399.99 (up $20)
  • Xbox Series S 1TB – $449.99 (up $20)

Industry analysts speculate that U.S. trade policies may contribute to the repeated adjustments, given the country-specific nature of the increases. Sony recently implemented similar strategies, adding $50 to PS5 pricing, while Nintendo has adjusted Switch 2 accessory costs—fueling concerns about broader market trends.

Despite assurances of profitability, analysts question whether the pricing strategy aligns with Microsoft’s goals. With sluggish weekly sales, the incremental revenue gains may struggle to offset potential declines in unit purchases, particularly as competitors navigate similar challenges.
