Eternatus debuted in Pokémon Go during the 2025 Dark Skies event, introducing a unique acquisition method unlike standard Pokémon encounters.
Capturing this legendary creature requires progression through the Go Pass: Max Finale’s free track. Unlike typical wild spawns, trainers must achieve Tier 60 to obtain an encounter opportunity. Battling Gigantamax/Dynamax Pokémon and completing Max Finale event tasks like gathering Stardust accelerates progress through these tiers.

Eternatus Mechanics and Abilities
This powerful Pokémon brings the exclusive Dynamax Cannon ability, enhancing Max Move effectiveness for 10-minute intervals. Activation requires 30 Eternatus Candies and 5,000 Stardust, with extended durations available through increased resource investment. Notably, this effect can’t stack with other temporary boosts.
Max Raid Battles and Evolution Prospects
During the event period, trainers confront Eternamax Eternatus in special raids. Successful defeats yield candies for powering up standard Eternatus variants rather than capture opportunities. Current availability remains limited to these encounters, with no confirmed plans for future Eternamax form releases.
